This is Just to Say

After listening to a This American Life episode about phony apologies, I wrote a poem using
as a template William Carlos Williams' famous poem, This is Just to Say

This Is Just To Say
by William Carlos Williams
I have eaten
the plums
that were in
the icebox

and which
you were probably
for breakfast

Forgive me
they were delicious
so sweet
and so cold

I threw
your file
in the trash

The one
on which
you probably
your best hours

Forgive me
this is the way things work
you should
